Best Birthday!

I had the happiest birthday yesterday! A big thank you to all my friends and family that made it so special to me with their notes, cards, flowers, phone calls, emails, etc. It was a big one this year...as I entered a new decade. It's not that 30 is really old, it's just that for some reason I have myself frozen at about 22 and so I don't feel like I should be 30 yet. Anyway, I had the best day! My cute husband started off my morning by making me crepes and strawberry smoothies. YUM! Then last night he made me the most delicious dinner of shrimp scampi with my favorite cheesebread! It was so good and I am continually impressed and awed that I am the lucky girl that has a husband who can really cook! He amazes me. After dinner I opened presents and man did I get spoiled...my goodness!!! The biggest surprise of the night was when I opened one of my presents from Steve and found tickets to see Carrie Underwood in Indiana in March and also a one night stay at a nice hotel there after the concert! I was so excited! Other favorite presents included a subscription to Paper Crafts magazine (Yeah!), scrapbook supplies, a handmade scarf, gardening kit and many other goodies from my Mom and Dad and CD's, a fun girl movie and clothes from Steve's parents. After presents, we had my favorite strawberry angel food cake that Steve makes...and it was delicious! So to sum up....I am a happy girl, I am a grateful girl and I am one lucky girl to have so many thoughtful friends, family and the most wonderful husband I could ever dream of. With all of this...even turning 30 isn't so bad!

Surprise Birthday Party!

Last night was quite the night! Steve and I were going to go out to dinner and then go see " 27 Dresses". Well we were just getting ready to walk out the door when our phone rang. It was a friend in our ward saying she needed us to run something by her house real quick. So we jumped in the car and drove to their house. When we got there I dashed up to the front door expecting to just drop off what we had brought and then leave. Her daughter answered the door and said, "Come in for a minute" So I went in and out of nowhere the lights went on, I saw a big beautiful cake with lots of fun balloons and streamers and all the Young Women were there to throw me a suprise birthday party! Turns out Steve was totally in on it. The Young Women had talked to him about wanting to do it for me last week and he even staged the phone call to our house that was supposedly the lady in our ward. (He called our house from his cell phone and pretended to be talking to someone!-He is so sneaky!) It was such a fun party, and the girls gave me cute cards and fun scrapbook supplies-I LOVE to scrapbook! I was so honored that the Young Women would do this for me! What a fun party! I have the greatest girls!

Valentine's Day Surprises!

I love Valentine's Day....mostly because I get to be sneaky and spoil Steve! We had a fun day yesterday. I snuck into his office during the day and left a fun goodie jar with heart cookies and then he surprised me with a dozen beautiful red roses! Then last night I had planned a surprise dinner of shrimp salad, and fondue while dining by candlelight. For dessert: Mini heart chocolate ganache cakes with fresh whipped cream and chocolate dipped strawberries! Everything turned out great, it was so much fun and we had a wonderful day! I love my Valentine!
